Our relationship with KD began 8 years ago when we designed and developed their first website back when the internet was a different place. We were happy to give KD a facelift to the site’s design, marketing, and SEO.
Put your best foot forward
One of the most important things that you can do for your website is to present what sets you apart from your competition in an easy to understand way. Often we here from customers, “well that’s not a big deal, everyone in our industry does that.” But what we have to explain is that even if that’s true, if someone is torn between two different companies to work with and both are trained and certified, but only one says it, (all other things being equal) the customer is going to go with the one that says it, even if it is required and true for both of them.
We included several differentiators in the banner of the site to help set KD apart including their 20+ years of experience, lifetime warranties on all of their work, and that they provide weekend and evening appointments at no additional cost. These three things can make a huge impact on whether someone picks up the phone or not.
Categorizing your work
One of the challenges that we often run into when working on a site is how do we need to break down the services into pages? Sometimes, it makes the most sense to provide a separate page for each service, for others, we attempt to break services into categories so there’s enough information for each page. This can be difficult for several reasons, but one main reason is determining how the average user would categorize the services is not necessarily how the business owner or someone in that industry would categorize them.
In the end, just like with everything on the site, the navigation and the content needs to tell your story and be as easy as possible for your potential customer to find what they are looking for. You never want your convoluted copy or navigation to drive customers away from your site. The user experience on your site should be easy and fluid. We determined three service categories that the average user would be able to understand and be looking for and filtered the services into these categories.
The finishing touches
The site was polished off with strong, crisp stock photography that worked to pull together the design and the copy on the site. As we do with all projects, we will continue to work with KD Electrical Services, LLC to further optimize their site, their rankings, their conversions, and their leads into the future.
